Many of us believe that children are our future. Children are the church’s future. Therefore, the church, parents and teachers have the responsibility to nurture and train them to become strong future members and leaders. How about the present? Should we not begin our training now instead of pressing the pause button on children? Research shows that if people do not accept Jesus as their Savior before they reach their teenage years, the chance of accepting Him later is very slim.
Children’s Ministries engages children in their formative years not only will build a strong church today, but will keep the church strong into the future.
- Do you want to go to heaven? What do you want to see there? What do you want to do? Elijah wanted to go too “God . . . gives power and strength to his people.” PSALM 68:35, NIV. God gives us power.
- Do you remember ever being really, really sick? So sick that you thought you might never get well? That happened to the widow’s son “The Lord . . . cares for those who trust in him.” NAHUM 1:7, NIV. God will always answer our prayers.
- Paige sat on the porch, ready to bite into her last cookie. Her friend Julie came running over. Uh-oh. What should Paige do? When Elijah was hungry, someone shared with him. “He is our God and we are . . . under his care.” PSALM 95:7, NIV. God uses others
- When you’re hungry, who feeds you? God fed Elijah in a special way. “My God will meet all your needs.” PHILIPPIANS 4:19, NIV. God loves us and gives us everything we need.
- What will you be when you grow up? Will you be a leader like Samuel? Samuel continued as judge . . . all the days of his life. 1 SAMUEL 7:15, NIV. I will serve Jesus all my life.
- God helps us when we are in trouble. “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them” (Psalm 34:7, NIV).
- God cares about all my problems.“ ‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find’ ” (Matthew 7:7, NIV).
- God’s grace is for everyone. “From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another” (John 1:16, NIV).
- God gives me blessings, more than I can ask or imagine. “[He] is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20, NIV).
- We serve God when we take care of others. “Again Jesus said,. . . ‘Do you truly love me? . . . Take care of my sheep’ (John 21:16, NIV).
